Actor release form and why we need them

Actor release form and laws from emmacalder123

I realise that I should of produced an actor release form before I published my music video, however I felt it important that I discussed why we need an actor release form along with Hannah Windsors release form. As I have been busy with my products and evaluations I have only had time to do so now. In discussing the reasons why I need an actor release form i.e. health reasons, credits etc I have recognised the importance of an actor release.

Raw footage

raw footage.prproj from emma calder on Vimeo.

Here is some unedited footage that I have put together Adobe Premiere just to show what shots I aim to include in my music video. First. I have collected a few pieces of footage when I filmed in the blackened studio with the lights. I have got shots of Hannah laughing, looking serious and also her carrying out actions like rubbing her face. I have shot Hannah displaying a variety of emotions as I want to portray the different stages of being drunk in my music video, for example people are normally happy and having a good time when they start to drink and then tend to go on feeling sick and not so much in control of what they are doing if they carry on drinking heavily, like Hannah does in the music video (this is displayed in my music video  through the actions of Hannah having her face in her hands and continuously rubbing her face). I also want these shots to represent Hannah conscious mind whilst she is passing through the stages of being drunk. I have then filmed in my room. I have included footage of Hannah pouring vodka in to the cap of the bottle (what many teenagers do, therefore allowing the to relate to Hannah in my music video), taking shots of vodka, dancing and looking in the mirror at herself. I plan to include a lot of shots where Hannah is drinking, to just emphasize that she is getting drunk. I filmed in my room with Hannah on her own as I wanted to portray a contrast between the loneliness of drinking on your own compared to being drunk surrounded by loads of people at a club or concert for example. I plan to use the footage I got from the Calvin Harris concert I went to and use that as the opposing binary opposite. I filmed this footage on my phone so will check for the quality of it when I start to edit, however I do feel that the quality of the footage is good. Moreover, I also hope to use footage from when I first filmed outside to maybe display the narrative of going out and walking home intoxicated, but I am not to sure if I will included this yet. I feel that the footage I will use overall in the video will mean that the target audience (16-25 year olds) will be able to relate to Hannah, as they too will understand the feeling of being drunk and the implications of it. In turn this mean that they could be more empathetic with Hannah and therefore want to watch the music video to the very end to see how she gets on at the end of the video. This is the main aim of my music video.

Digipak 1st draft

Here is the first draft of my digipak. I am not quite sure on a few things for example, the font colour on the front cover, two of the pictures which are pixelated, and also the back cover as the font does not fit well with the picture. The only part of my digipak I really like at the moment is the side where the CD goes, I like the fact it captures people dancing and having fun. However I may change this to a different image which I took whilst at a concert in December. I will be having six sides to my finished digipak also. I plan to make all these alterations in the upcoming weeks as I will be back at school.

Structure of music video

I feel I have been struggling to edit and shoot my music video due to the fact I have no clear structure in my head or on paper. I have created a couple of storyboards and spoke about the changes to my music video but I felt it would be beneficial if I actually stated the shots I wish to use and the order of my music. Also I have not really spoke about the mise-en-scene of my music video, so hopefully this will make it clear to those looking through my coursework and myself before I start to film some more footage next week.

Magazine advert completed

This is my magazine advert. It is very similar to the one that I drew up in the planning stages of creating it. Planning before hand helped me as I already had a certain picture in my head that I wanted to created meaning I could just get on with it quickly and efficiently. I chose the colour scheme of purple and white as I felt it worked well together, with both the image and text being able to work together and both be as eye catching as the other. I felt this was important as the text such as reviews are just important as a striking image. I stuck with the font that I spoke about briefly in planning and to accompany it I used Impact and (need to put the fonts name here). These fonts work well together.

Using my draft magazine advert I was able to make changes to make sure my finished magazine advert look professional and visually pleasing. As I mentioned in the post I wanted to change the date from the '30th November 2013' to '30.11.13'. I have done this and feel that it does infact look better having the date in the numerical version as it flows well with the structure of the advert, meaning that also aspects with recieve the same amount of attention they all need. I also tried to make the line splitting up the image and text less visable, in comparison to the draft it is infact less visble however you can still see it a little bit. I did try and make it less visable but this the changed the colour of the advert to a darker purple which I did not like. Another change that I made to my finished advert is I moved the reviews dow a little as I felt that there was too much of a gap between the date of release and also the words 'Available on digital download'. This movement of the reviews has seemed to close the gap, making the advert flow visually more.

Overall I am pleased with my music advert, and hope to achieve the same look with my digipak so that the potential audience are able to relate the digiapk, the advert and the music video together.

Magazine advert planning

As I am behind on my filming I am going to start my magazine advert. However I need to plan it first before I begin to start it. Here are my ideas for my advert...

Health and safey evidence for filming in the studio with the lights on the 4/12/13

Here is a risk assessment sheet for the filming with the lights in the studio. One risk appeared when I had to move the lights from the classroom down to the studio. This risk was solved as three of us carried the two lights and equipment down meaning that we were not overloaded with equipment that we could possibly drop and injure ourselves with. Moreover, the lights also became extremely hot after filmed, however as we were told previously that the lights were going to be hot we knew not to touch them and therefore did not get burn or injure ourselves. The way to minimise this risk was waiting till it was completely cool and then carrying it back up to the class room.

Storyboards

Here are three storyboards which illsutrate my intentions for my music video. My narrative revolves around a young womens night out. The first shot will be of my model (Hannah) looking rough with her make up smeared all round her face and with her hair messy. I will then fade this shot out so it looks like 'flashbacks' of her night out. I have changed the order of my of the narrative on my storyboard, from the second shot being clips of her starting to get ready and drinking. I then plan to use clips of flashing lights to illustrate the party theme of the narrative to break up each part of the story. I will also use mid shots of Hannah looking into the camera (like the first shot) to break up the clips to. As the song goes on Hannah will slowly loose the 'rough' look and by the end will look like shes is just about to go out.

Diary entry 4/12/13 (and photo of location)

Yesterday I filmed parts of my music video. I filmed in one of the drama rooms where the walls are all black, I then set up the red lights and place a box in front of them. This meant that the lights are included in my music video giving a mysterious and unknown feel, which was made even more apparent with the black walls. I have started to edit my music video but I need to film much more footage. This includes my actor drinking alcohol whilst getting ready which makes her drunk and unstable. I will be using point of view shots to portray this drunk feeling to the audience. My target audience which is 17-26 year olds will be able to relate to this feeling as this generation are known for partying and drinking way to much.

Here is a picture of the setting...

I am very behind in filming and have only filmed a little bit. I plan to film when I go to Calvin Harris with my friend who is also my artist in my music video. Im going to film on my camera phone, even though this wont be the best quality, I think this will be effective as it will give the audience the feel of the crowd and atmosphere. Also Calvin Harris is quite similar to the genre of drum and base so it will capture shots that would be seen in a drum and base concert.

Here is a picture of a type of shot that I want to achieve whilst at Calvin Harris. I took this shot at Wireless 2013 in July when seeing Calvin Harris...

Health and safety evidence from filming outside on the 22/11/13

Here is a risk assessment sheet which I have completed for when I filmed outside yesterday. The main risks where moving the lights and also the lights/wires getting wet. Luckily the weather was great and the floor was not wet meaning it was safe to film, however if it did rain I would not of filmed as that would be a health and safety risk and also cause potential damage to the equipment.

Diary Entry/pitch - 28/10/13

This prezi is a production log and also a pitch for my new ideas. Alongside this I am going to research my new artist and make a presentation on them just so that I have something that is of complete relevance to my new ideas. I will also research the genre of the song which is Drum and Base, so that I and also others can see the elements of drum and base in a bit more detail.

Audience feedback and an insight of what I have done so far

Heres an example of my questionnaire that has been filled out by a person from my target audience.

They seem to agree that I should use green screen in my music video which I plan to do in the next few weeks. As well as this they feel props and costume are of great importance to. I have got this covered as I am going to make my artists change their outfits everytime I film and I also have interseting props such as a penny board and sparklers.

This is the original powerpoint that I used when presenting.

Editing Software

Throughout my project I will be using multiple software's to make sure that I create and maintain a professional and successful music video. Software's that I will be regularly using include Adobe Photoshop and also Premiere. I may also have to use a software called Adobe After Effects which will allow me to add in effects to my shots, if they are needed. I have never used this software before so I will have to get to grips with it first.

I will be using Adobe Photoshop to edit the images for my digipak and also for my magazine advert. Photoshop has a variety of tools that will help me to make my images look professional, for example, one tool that I will use regularly is the tool that lets me remove the background (if needed) from the image. I will also be able to use visual effects, which will make my images optically enjoyable and interesting for the audience. Using a range of effects such as filters, will allow the audience to see the skill that I have in Photoshop, which I have gradually gained over years of using it. Not only this, I can use Photoshop to create my digipak and my magazine advert, therefore making this software a very useful and important part of my project.

Next, I will be using Adobe Premiere throughout the majority of my project to edit and piece together my music video, shot by shot. As I have only just recently learnt how to use Premiere I have not perfected the skill of using it yet. I have however, learnt the basics due to the fact I have used it to create mini videos and presentations. I will first start to use this software by placing all my clips onto a timeline and removing their audio. I will then import my song onto the timeline and will start arranging and piecing together the clips, so that my music video flows together nicely, creating and easy and enjoyable watch for my audience.

Lastly, I could potentially use Adobe After Effects to add special effects into my music video. As I wish to have a summery theme throughout my music video, I could use this software to make my clips have high key lighting if I feel the natural lighting is not enough. As I have never used this software before it will be hard to grasp at first, however it will be great to learn to use a new software, as it will broaden my skills. I feel that this could be very useful to my music video as the weather in England is very rarely sunny and bright, and we are heading into Autumn  which means the weather is only going to get worse, so After Effects could help me create the feeling of summer I wish to include in my music video.
