Diary entry 11/9/13

Recently I havent been doing as much work as I should be doing, I still have a lot to do and this includes filiming my actual music video. I am currently in the middle of completeing my final storyboards, which will give me an idea of what type of shots and camera movements I wish to have in my music video. I plan to film again either this weekend or next weekend as both my friends are free to do so. I may go up to London to film some scenes, however I am not to sure on this idea yet as London is usually very busy and my friends may feel embarrassed performing. Not only this, I need to learn to use After Effects so that I can edit in some special effects to my music video. I feel that After Effects will help convey the 'festival/party' theme of my music video, for example I could add in high key lighting, and also flashing lights to act as strobes.

Editing Software

Throughout my project I will be using multiple software's to make sure that I create and maintain a professional and successful music video. Software's that I will be regularly using include Adobe Photoshop and also Premiere. I may also have to use a software called Adobe After Effects which will allow me to add in effects to my shots, if they are needed. I have never used this software before so I will have to get to grips with it first.

I will be using Adobe Photoshop to edit the images for my digipak and also for my magazine advert. Photoshop has a variety of tools that will help me to make my images look professional, for example, one tool that I will use regularly is the tool that lets me remove the background (if needed) from the image. I will also be able to use visual effects, which will make my images optically enjoyable and interesting for the audience. Using a range of effects such as filters, will allow the audience to see the skill that I have in Photoshop, which I have gradually gained over years of using it. Not only this, I can use Photoshop to create my digipak and my magazine advert, therefore making this software a very useful and important part of my project.

Next, I will be using Adobe Premiere throughout the majority of my project to edit and piece together my music video, shot by shot. As I have only just recently learnt how to use Premiere I have not perfected the skill of using it yet. I have however, learnt the basics due to the fact I have used it to create mini videos and presentations. I will first start to use this software by placing all my clips onto a timeline and removing their audio. I will then import my song onto the timeline and will start arranging and piecing together the clips, so that my music video flows together nicely, creating and easy and enjoyable watch for my audience.

Lastly, I could potentially use Adobe After Effects to add special effects into my music video. As I wish to have a summery theme throughout my music video, I could use this software to make my clips have high key lighting if I feel the natural lighting is not enough. As I have never used this software before it will be hard to grasp at first, however it will be great to learn to use a new software, as it will broaden my skills. I feel that this could be very useful to my music video as the weather in England is very rarely sunny and bright, and we are heading into Autumn  which means the weather is only going to get worse, so After Effects could help me create the feeling of summer I wish to include in my music video.
